Tankmate sizes for miliaris moray

What's the smallest sized fish that would be safe with a miliaris moray?

Peter I had a 2.5 inch (still have him) Coral Beauty with my Goldentail for 3 years. My Goldentail was 10 inch when I got him. They are primarily crustacean eaters, not fish, but that's not to say a hungry Miliaris wouldn't go after a 1.5 inch Occelaris (for example). I would think anything over 2 inches would be safe with the 14 inch Goldentail on DD, or the smaller "Banana" there. Mine was probably 14 inches when he died. I had real issue getting food to mine even with tongs, he was not an aggressive feeder and my big Lime Green Wrasse and Triggers made it hell getting food to him. I think he eventually perished due to that. I had a snowflake for many years that was a much bolder feeder, that ell is nearly 30 inches long and still alive in S. Carolina.

Back to the subject....anything over a couple inches SHOULD BE safe, and as long as you don't have 5 "food stealers", I think it's a great Eel, and you know getting from DD that it's eating well for sure.

Thanks for the info. The common theme seems to be that they are very shy feeders, and feeding them will be difficult if kept with aggressive eaters. I think a tank full of butterflies and a couple angels should be good. Unfortunately someone bought it :( They've had a couple now, so hopefully more will show up.

Yea, I actually shut down my computer because I wanted it so bad but can't responsibly spend that kind of money at the moment. :sad1:

What a beautiful specimen that was, congrats to the lucky new owner!

Is it true that adults all turn brown, regardless of what color they start out as?

no they stay yellow there whole life. I have both a goldtail and brazillian yellow morph color. That black spotted one is beautiful for sure. I cant belive these things are selling for 600.00 - 700.00 bucks thats crazy. I paid 225.00 for mine and thought that was alot.

The yellow morph never gained the black/brown blotches? Like in this pic: http://www.liveaquaria.com/images/categories/large/lg-90108-Golden-Moray.jpg

It's just strange to me that I've never seen a 24" pure yellow adult, but all below 12" or so are pure yellow. The impression I got was they gained some blotches to varying degrees with age. They certainly don't turn normal, they just get some spots common to this morph.

Believe or not, I bought that banana eel from diver den when sitting in the bathroom,
My jaw dropped when I saw the picture. So imagine one hand on the phone ordering and one hand cleaning myself up.LOL what an experience it was. I knew it was going to sell quick, so I jumped on it. She is doing fine , I feed her later today.
