Target feeding meaty stuff

Does anyone use a long tool to target feed meat chunks of food to brittle stars, anenomes or any other critter than needs it? I target feed my anenome but sometimes the cleaner shrimp steals it before it reaches the tentacles. I don't even try to target feed the brittle star because I don't have any tool that allows me to 'release' the food when I see that the target animal has grabbed it. Does anyone know of a long hemostat, tweezers or the like to do this kind of target feeding?

i use a combination of turkey baster and stainless steel tongs for placing shrimp for my anenome. my cleaner shrimp still tries to get some of it but the anenome holds on.

turkey baster all the way :D I target feed my suncoral and now my fish, who have learned that the baster means food  they all run up to the turkey baster as soon as it hits the water

I use tongs to feed my eel, and my stars...

Ocassionaly I'll do this for my blue chin trigger as well, but he's a pig and get's pleanty to eat most of the time.

My shrimp does the same thing. I learned to feed the shrimp quite a few food pellets before I target feed my corals. The pellets keep him busy for awhile so the corals can eat.

I pour the sinking pellets in the same place (away from the corals) every time. He learned to go there and look for food. It works well.

Turkey baster for anemone. Feed the thiefs first so they are occupied then target feed others. The baster also lets you control the amount and strength of the food, if an anemone is hungry he will close the tentacles once the food has hit it.

thanks for the info! I guess I won't be needing to 'nudge' the shrimp into the anenome....:eek1:
Nope, they should be somewhat sticky and grab the stuff that floats into it's tentacles.

It's amazing how quickly fish will pick up on the fact that it's the turkey baster where food always comes from. By about the 3rd week of QT, my fish see me coming and `know'.
