I have a bunch of small colonies that I am trying to get to spread. One of the local guys told me to "target feed" them with small pellets. I looked around online for more info and found this article:Target Feeding Zoanthids.
Last night I bought some small pellets are tried feeding individual polyps. Some of the colonies would wrap around the pellet and some would just ignore it.
Regarding the polyps that wrapped around the pellet, should I assume that the zoa was eating the pellet or do you think it closed up because I annoyed it? I think they might be eating because only the polyps I put the pellet in closed, but normally when I annoy it the whole colony closes. Of course I tried asking if they liked their dinner, but they were being moody and didn't want to talk.
I know that different colonies can have different behaviors. If I assume that the ones that closed up are eating the pellets should I continue to target feed those and skip feeding the ones that didn't close?
I'm going to try tomorrow with some brine shrimp to see if they will eat that.
