Temp Controller for Acro tank

Title says it all...

I dont run a chiller...dont need to....but i may want to run more than 1 heater(at least in the future when i get a larger tank) so i am looking for a 1 or 2 stage temperature controller.

I DONT need an aquacontroller....i know someone will recommend it anyways without actually reading the thread...but i dont need one because everything else is already automated and i did so for specific reasons so i dont need one of those "all in ones" because it would be redundant as well as a waste of money.

Also, I would like to find one with a small temperature differential. I have already been recommended Ranco(1 degree F temp. diff.) so it has a possibility of a 2 degree temp. fluctuation. I would like to find a good temp controller with a .5 F differential as that only leaves open to a 1 degree(F) fluctuation!!!

Thanks...any suggestions of recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My Medusa seems rock solid thus far. I wish I would have purchase the two outlet version though. I would hook up a high speed fan to the "cool" outlet just in case of emergencies, but I have never been at that point thus far.

It controls 2x150w in my sump for my total of about 310 gallons. My temperature fluctuates from about 78.0 - 79.9 with 200ishw of T5's and 1050w of MH.

I say a ranco... I had one up until last month and it was just about the most reliable piece of equipment I owned.

Just remember not to keep the probe downstream from the heater. :)

I use the 2 stage Ranco; theres a guy on E-bay(I'm sure theres more than 1 guy) that sells these brand new. Little bit more complex than plugging in your devices, but, it is by far not rocket science. All you do is strip the wires of the devices you're hooking up and hardwire them to the device.

Or you can do what I did, wire my Rancho controller to plugs then you can plug anything you want in ;)

LOL:lol: I never even thought of that, it is a much better idea.

I use the ranco. And I personaly like a 2 degree temp cange in my tank. I think it makes my sps more hardy. I heard somewhere that if you get you tank temp too stable the corals would react worse to an accidental temp raise or drop. Than they will when they do a slight one on a regular basis.

Good point prodman....i failed to consider that, however, i dont want to do any wiring....how much of a PITA was it?

Prodman gave a perfect reccomendation to a Ranco w/o wiring, I didn't even know that existed. I think I paid $80 for mine and had to wire, whatever floats your boat.
