Temp Question

That is very extreme temps for H zosterae or any species of seahorse. The best temps for them is the low 70's and keep it stable.

Try to get it even lower as that is still on the high end for them and won't allow for temp spikes in the warmer months.

Hi Justin,

I have raised 4th generation H zosterae and in my experience I have found the following water perams to be the optimum:

Tank temp- 71-73F
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- <10 ppm
PH- 8.2-8.3
SG- 1.019

They don't tolerate high temps and large swings in temps well. Hopefully you can bring their tank temp down and keep it stable.

Good luck.
HTH :)

wow I bought a fan last night and placed it next to the tank. The temp went from 78 to 75 in matter of two hours I really hope I did not stress my horses. I am going to do some tests today and see how low I can get it in a longer period of time. Anyone know where I can get a temp controller? The controller that turns on a fan and a heater when needed.
