temp shocked pagoda cup :(

I won a lovely pagoda coral off of ebay a while back, and somewhere along the shipping lines the middle bag formed a hole. By the time it got to me the heat pack was beyond sopping wet/dead and the coral was the same temp. as the air outside(50 degrees >.<) I put the piece into my tank and was wondering how to tell if it will be okay. I've already contacted the shipper(did it that night) to tell him what happened, and he told me to keep him posted. I really want this coral to live instead of me having to work out a deal for another one, but how can I tell? It got here Thursday night and still is in about the same shape as it was when I took that picture.

Well there is not really much you can do right now but wait... hopefully, you acclimated it extra longer than usual... it just might pull through.. i know they are pretty hardy...

I got a pagoda from my local LFS, acclimated it and placed it and it promptly started to lose tissue and become overgrown w/ algae. I moved it to a different location with different currents and lighting conditions and it stopped and is even growing back slowly with wonderful, full polyp extension from the ~1/6th of the original coral tissue. Id give it a month or so before I wrote it off.
Play around with locations and you might be able to nurse it back to health.

Riona, sorry to hijack. I'm also having pagoda issues.

When you moved your pagoda, what change did you make...more or less light & current, etc? I got two from the LFS not too long ago. One has started to lose tissue on the edges and the other has one spot that seems to be getter lighter. They are both about the same height, but the one with just the bleach spot was directly under a halide... Yesterday I moved it to the sand, thinking it was a little light shocked. Any suggestions?

It used to sit almost directly in the current from a pump in full light (4x39W T5) I moved it to the other side of the tank, farther from direct furrent to a more bulk flow area but it is still in mostly direct light (just a little closer to the edge though.

my problems started the same way, a small, but expanding dead spot started in the middle of the coral and spread rapidly (1 month to cover 4/5 of the coral approx 4 in across) During that time I never saw the polyps extend. I got a scroll at the same time and it also receeded a little untill I moved it but not to the same extent.

Thanks. I'll try moving both of mine and see how they respond. Both pieces were on the bottom at the LFS. I think the store had them for a while so maybe they were pretty acclimated to that light.

Hm. I'm going to move it down in the tank a bit. This morning it has some sort of brown growth(more like diatom algae from a cycle than any sort of jelly) on part of it and about half of the polyps look like they are missing a lot of their flesh. Any other help?
