Temp Swing Question

Dont really have a problem with temp.....but do have the problem with a swing 79.4/81.0.......Ok the 81.0 miday all the lights on this is the hottest it gets. Now for the 79.4 I think it gets down this low because I have my aquacontroller to shut the fans off at 79.0

Would it be better for me to set my controller for the fan to shut off at 80....this way here it only be 1 dreg swing.....Just a thought

All in how you feel. I have my fans come on at 81 and **** off at 79. Before I had set it 79 to turn on and 77 to turn off.

So far from what I see some of my zoos that were closed have opened up and less topping off of freshwater/kalkwasser. I might be setting it for 81 on and 80 off. I figure it will take about 20-30 mins or so for the temp to change 1 degree and at night it will drop by itself, but I have no heater.

Thats what I have mine set at now....
Temp >81.0 ON
Temp <80.0 OFF
even with my fans on all day the temp never gets below 79.4 and this is with the lights off and just the pumps running

Thats odd that you can't bring down tank temps even with the fans on all the time during the day. It isn't bad but I find it odd. How big are the fans that you are using?

I am using 4" fans x 2 over my sump and they bring the temps down fairly quick. Maybe I'll time it next time it for ****s and giggles. Once I get my canopy with a combo of 2 x VHOs and 2 x T5s I will rethink about putting fans on the canopy or not.

The only fansI could get to fit in my canapy at 3.25, so I have one blown in and the other side blowing out also I have a 5"DC fan in the rear mounted in the dryer vent.....and for the sump I have the same fan roger uses on his tank....I think its for drying ladies nails.....I might try moving my temp probe I have it sump but just rememberd my fuge light is on 24/7.....where do you have your probe.?

I have it between the baffles in the sump. My fuge light stays on for about 17hrs I think. Its where it is because I don't think the fuge light can really warm it up if the water is coming from the tank and then through the baffles. Keep in mind my refuge light is just about on the opposite side of the sump/refugium.

Hey Guys,
I have a question for you.
I have 2-250W 20,000K metal halides. Does anyone know if a 20,000K bulb outputs more heat than 14 or 10?
My temps swing around 3 degrees night to day even with fans running in the fuge and out of the hood.

I think its the same heat output no matter 14 or 10 because its still using 250w x 2. If your worried then set the heat to come on at a higher temp so it doesnt drop so much.
