Temperature probes and probe holders

Has anyone been able to fit their temperature probes into their 3rd party probe holders? I just bought a new fancy probe holder but I can only get it to hold my pH probe because the temperature probe has a cap on it that we're not supposed to remove.

Does anyone know if it's safe to temporarily remove the cap so it can fit into a probe holder, then put the cap back on once it's in the probe holder (keeping it out of water during this process...) ?

Insert the "wire" end of the probe first? As in disconect it from the apex and slide through..?

Dont try to remove the cap, it is sealed.
