I have a question on the temp in my tank

I currently do not have a chiller on my system but do have a fan in the canopy (not runningon these tests)

when my lights go out the tank temp is 83 when they come on in the morn it is77 I am affraid if I turn the heater up enough to keep it warm over night that during the day the heat will go past 83 since it will be starting from a warmer temp???

also my ph is 8.3 lights out and 8.0 lights on is this ok?

So you aren't able to maintain a fairly stable temp with the fan in your canopy? My heater keeps my tank at about 78.5 and my fan comes on when the MH's come on. I have never had my temp swing more than a degree during the winter. Maybe you need a better fan or more ventilation in your canopy?

What I did was put my heaters on a timer so they kick off when my MH's come on. I found, for whatever reason, that they drive up the temp of the tank if I used them when the halides are on. Both heaters were new at the time and work fine-they keep the temp. rock steady overnight. Luckily the heat from my MH's alone is enough to keep my tank at 82 in the winter and 84 in the summer. My temp. is much more stable this way.
