my tank is at 81.5 is that safe?

That's a little high, I have my lights set to turn off at that level. Should be ok but it would be best to get a fan or two and blow them across the surface of the water. You'd be surprised at how well it works.

Better yet, hook it up to a temperature controller like this and control both the heater and the fan. You can keep your tank within 0.5 F.

I have ran tanks at 82-83 with no ill effects.... what you do not want is large swings in temp.


Why is your tank so hot ?

I figure it out im running a heater in my main tank and another heater in my lagoon. i got it to around 78
