Tennessee Aquarium Visit

While I was in Atlanta working, a few co-workers that live in Atlanta said I needed to go up and visit the Tennessee Aquarium. It is located right off the highway in Chattanooga, TN. It was about 100 miles north of Atlanta. Since I was there over the weekend, we decided to take the trip up and see the Aquarium. It was well worth the trip. It was actually 2 separate buildings and an IMAX theater. We spent more then twice the amount of time in the Aquarium then the Georgia Aquarium.

There was more fresh water tanks here, but they did have some saltwater ones too. In addition, there was also a Butterfly House inside. If you are in Atlanta area, do not miss this place!

There is another identical building to the left, did not think I needed to post a picture of both.....

When you enter the building, you take a very long escalator to the very top where they have a Rain Forest type environment. Then you proceed to walk down through the building, from each type of tank/eco-system to the next.

Very well laid out....

One of the first places you enter is the Butterfly House.

DragonFish - This was definitely the coolest thing!!!!! I tried to make this my new avatar, but the picture loses too much detail when I make it small enough for the RC Size Police.

Ever see a Japanese Spider Crab? They say they can grow to the size of a Volkswagon. This guy has gotten a good start!

Through the acrylic, this guy looked like he was about 3 foot long! I would hate to see him stressed out and PUFFED up!

This interesting thing about alot of their tanks was, they showed about and below the waterline. Took much longer to look at each display, trying to make sure you saw everything inside each one.

PART 3 WILL BE POSTED SHORLY

That crab is out of this world.
It looks like it could eat that poor kid if it wanted too. I'm sure it gave the poor little fellow nightmares.
Once again, very nice pictures Hobbes.

Part 3

The Jellyfish display was great to see, but impossible to photograph. They have 3 large acrylic tubes, maybe 4 feet in diameter filed with Jellyfish. They kept changing a colored light on the bottom of each tube and the Jellyfish would change colors.

I was able to get this picture of the wall tank filled with a different type of Jellyfish.

SHARK !!!!!!!!! incase you did not notice....

Both of the Aquariums, the Georgia and Tennessee, had these openings where you could crawl into and be inside the tank. Kids loved them.

This is my best Fish picture

Here are two more pictures of the landscaping inside the building. Sure put you into the mindset to relax and enjoy the tanks....

That is all for now, I dont think RC would want me posting 100s of pictures. Anyway, you need to go visit yourself and see everything in person.

If you can, make sure you visit both, the Georgia Aquarium and Tennessee Aquarium.
