Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
Thanks Dave for hosting a terrific meeting!!! :D

Great food, good turnout, and Fabulous tank!!! :eek1:

Thanks Dave and family for a great meeting and Cajun feast. It was great to see everyone again (and of course Dave's tank! :D ).

It was nice to see a nice turnout and put some faces with the new members I've not personally met before and see a few I haven't seen in awhile. I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves, hopefully learned a thing or two about reef chemistry, and maybe picked up a frag or two. A special thanks to our new member Chris for the crayola plana(?) frag, looks like it is going to be a stunner! We'll have to do it again sometime.

Dave your the man!
It was great to get to finally see your tank and it did not dissapoint. It's obvious you have put a lot of time, effort and knowlege into it's evolution and construction......kudos! The layout was outstanding and I could have stared at the tank for hours but all those fish nerds and great food kept distracting me:D
And I didn't even have any apple juice.
Seriously thanks for letting us in and for providing the talk on chemistry.....a subject so many (including myself even after minoring in the subject) have a phobia of but is not all that hard to understand with a little effort and a simplistic explanation...which you provided:)
Chris

Thank you, reef-kensei fishdoc-san for the kind words. In spite of all I learn, the hobby still continues to baffle me at times. I am glad you enjoyed yourself and I'll need to get out to your place someday.

Dave

Hey Dave, what do you feed your Harlequin??? I meant to ask you at your house, I think I got sidetracked...

He used to eat asterinas until he dessimated that population. Now he gets an occasional linkia leg from the sump. Many years ago when I kept them I would freeze starfish for feeding, but this works better as the stars regrow the legs. He's probably my favorite in the whole tank.

Dave

How long does it take for the linkia leg to regenerate??? Do you have more than one linkia???

"Regrowing" the legs is probably a bit strong. The wounds healing over is probably a bit more appropriate. I'd say, properly rationed, a star will last 4-6 months, perhaps a bit more. I'm sure he finds an occasional asterina straggler, too, but you can always tell when he's hungry as he'll roam around during the day.
