Thanks Salty Critter!

I just wanted to thank Salty Critter again for their support of our club and it's members....I can't wait to shop with my gift certificate.

I'm also in Akron and trust me it is so worth the drive. Just make sure you take cash because if not you will walk out there near broke with maxed out credit cards. They have amazing stuff.

How about a group buy with Salty....would that make all parties happy?
It is a long jog from here too....but I wanna make the trip out sometime...

I find it hard to get out there a lot myself given the distance. I will say, if you haven't been there, its without a doubt worth the drive.

As far as a group buy, I am sure Dan would be open to hear us out. The key is to have everyone land on 1 thing we want to purchase as a group.

Someone mentioned salt last night. Although salt sounds like an idea, most companies use it as a loss leader and really don't mark it up much.

CORA recently did a group buy on carbon which looked like a great success. We could also consider maybe bulk GFO or Mag Flake. Just some ideas....

I really liked how the groupbuy with reefcleaners.org went, pick out what you like, get a certain discount, and pay. If they offered a day or weekend that club members could get even15% off I bet quite a few people would take the time to travel out there. Go in, pick out what you want, and get a discount at the register.

I am all about supporting our local stores but when it comes to spending my hard earned money, it's going to be the best deal I can find. Sometimes it will be from outside the local fish stores as it seems their pricing continues to keep going up and becoming almost un-affordable. I keep hearing all this support you local shops but the 2 names of Salty Critter and Aquatic Technology seem to be the only ones mentioned over and over. What about Hector's place Tropical Aquarium, he is struggling like crazy trying to keep his doors open!!!!! What about a group buy from him or how many raffle items for each club meeting comes from his store??? We should be supporting them all. Granted I know some stores participate more than others but they also get plenty of free advertising on here pumping up his store. The members here should not be made to feel guilty for doing a group buy or buying online from other places besides places like Salty Critter. I know for a fact these local stores here haven't been soley using the local suppliers here 100% either. They are looking out for themselves and finding better cheaper deals elsewhere. Shouldn't they be supporting their local suppliers??? I have personally given thousands of dollars to each local store throughout the years in this hobby without ever receiving deals and shouldn't along with anyone else be made to feel guilty for finding the best deal out there. I personally have noticed attitudes from both stores for not buying solely from them but never thanked when they were sent business from friends and family. My brother just recently got back into the hobby and already took grief from some of the shops for trying to find the best deals out there and that was from the owners. Yet none of them really took the time and tried to hook him up with a sweet package. Almost more felt like a bother for being there asking questions. In my opinion not the best way to continue getting his money nor mine. It's sad but when the employees of these local shops wont buy the merchandise because of the high pricing , Maybe an issue?????

**** Sorry Jeff for imposing on your thank you post*****

You have a point, Ben....I've taken grief for promoting Hector's place on here some time ago.....I continue to support the little guy, even when I buy something like gas and even beer....
