That was scary

As I was sitting hear surfing the forums I head something strange near the tank....:  It sounded like water dripping onto an outlet. I jumped up and hit the off switch to my power but the sound didn't stop. I didn't see anything arcing or smell smoke. I finally traced it to the overflow box stored in my stand. My blue spotted puffer was lying in the bottom of the box. He jumped out of the tank, hit the wall on his way down and bounced under the stand and into the overflow box. :eek1: I just dumped him back into the tank and he swam away and looked at me like it was my fault.

Was that the clam-eating puffer? Idiot fish... maybe he'll know better next time!

How many lives has he used up Matt?

Nice catch.....are you like me in that anytime you hear a weird splash, you get up in the night and check the tank?

Perhaps its just that we have a 6 mo old and I am always awake at night now but dang, I feel paranoid.

Glad your puffer made it though.

zt444a: Yes, same stupid puffer. At this rate he won't be around much longer and I'll be out buying another clam.

Meisen: A few months ago my HOB skimmer started dripping into my power strip and I discovered it as I walked in the door from work. I was about 15 minutes away from my apartment going up in flames, at least judging from the sparks and smoke. So, yes I do check every time I here as strange noise from the tank.

My last puffer, and favorite fish, died after a carpet surfing adventure. I normally keep the top covered but I haven't redone my diffuser (egg crate) since adding some stuff to the tank. I think I'll finish that up this evening.
