The 55 Build

Hi Guys,

Well, Im starting with the construction of my 55 today! I stared by drilling out a 10g for practice that will be going in my sump(Thanks again Al!! I couldnt resist trying!) and it went perfectly!

So the next step is to drill my 55 for the overflow box I will be building around the bulkhead. I tend to eye-ball my cuts once, pray for the best, and curse the worst when I cut just about anything, so I figured I would get some feedback before proceeding...
My plan is to drill the top right corner. 4in frm the side, 1.5 in down as can bee seen in the below pic:

Does anyone think this is a bad idea or is there any other factors I should be considering???

Thanks,
Eric

I drilled my 75 at or about the same on both sides. I remember reading on RC that it should be at least the width of the hole away from the sides.

I also put a lot of tape on the inside to give some back pressure so it would cut clean all the way through.

Use a lot of water and a slow rpm to save your bit.

That is a cool idea! I liked the way you had yours setup also.
Still on the fence about adding the acrylic as well. it would be a good spot for more frags but a little cumbersome in the tank. This would be a quick and easy way to get it going though...
thanks for the info!
Eric
