My Tank is build in wall. I am smelling some smell, smell of sea, or corals/algae.. This smells is stronger when I open the hidden door of the aquarium equipment room.

Hmm my wife told me to do something about this, and lol I am worried and I am wondering if this is a normal problem and if there is something to do to solve this smell problem ?

Many thanks :D

Ive noticed "the smell" when i do water changes dealing with my sand bed (removing part of the sandbed). It quickly disapaites becouse of the big open area that the tank is in. My suggestion would be to try to get some sort of air movement over the tank. some glade plug-ins might help the situation temporarily, Perhaps look into running ozone in the tank or in your "hidden room".

hahahaha me too! i have a 90gal in my little and i mean LITTLE room....anyway i was performing a water cange and i had to open up the doors and it made my room smell like a brand new leather jacket. hahahahahaha! i like it am i weird?

I get the smell when there is a lot of humidity in the room. I would vent your fishroom somehow. The room is containing it to a degree. Then it leaches out into the rest of the room, more so when you open the door.

Guys I run Carbon 24/7. The tank is 2 months old and is a 160g.
In my tank room there some humidity too so this complicate the situation.. In this room there is also a ventilation for outside, and another to inside the livving room..

I was thinking to drill some more holes through the wall (outside direction) for ventilation, and maybe buy a big fan to ventilate the tank room. I could plug in on timer, lets say 10 hours on, the rest off..

What do you think ?

I think even a small instructer will help.. The problem is that I cannot drill big holes from room to outside... Only small ones. At the moment there are 3 holes of 1" each.

why cant you run a vent like the kind that hangs over your stove? you know, like a hood.....or the kind that you would find in a bathroom with no windows. just a regular 6" vent duct with a fan......

I get the smell from my protein skimmer exhaust. I just clean my skimmer at least once a week. Could probably put a carbon filter on the exhaust too if needed but I have plenty of fresh outside air coming into the fish room daily.
