Anyone got opinions on the Barrier Reef in Boca Raton?? Id like to hear it all. I get my water from them and have bought some corals, but Id like to hear others opinions on this specific shop. I know its not in Miami/Fort Lauderdale but would be good to still here some opinions.

ive been there a few times, good location, good prices, clean store, but in all honesty as a customer that purchased something there i was not impressed with there customer service at all, except for one employee that somewhat seemed to care.

other then customer service, no other problems. good store. some people like it that way, some people want to look around and not feel pressured, if so thats your store. they wont pressure you at all.

I go there quite frequently, mostly to get saltwater. I have purchased a few corals there and some other accessories. Their prices are higher than online shops, but of course that's because they've got a much higher overhead to spread to less customers. Definatly low/non-existant pressure for buying. I've had nothing but great experiences with customer service and the like. They're usually very nice and helpful people. There are a few employees that work there that know a LOT, but most know enough to answer most questions that you'll ever have.

I'm a satisfied customer of theirs who frequents their shop.

What other aquarium stores are there in the same area? I'm not aware of any in that whole mid-boca area other than Barrier.

IMO some of their stock is way overpriced but not all. Just make sure you know what the going price is before you buy and you'll be alright. Also, I got saltwater from them a month ago and it measured 1.029. Luckily, I checked and mixed with some ro water before doing a water change. Anyway, i'm not trying to bad mouth them I have also had good experiences with them. Just saying no matter which LFS doublecheck anything before you put it in your tank whether it is livestock or water.

I consider them a last resort store. they do have a lot of stuff. some good priced some not so good. but thier customer relation skills definately are lacking. my biggest turn off with them was I used to have a mated and breeding (no successful broods) of blue spotted jawfish. well I forgot to recover the overflow properly and the female jumped into the overflow and went into the sump and got sucked into the return pump ending up dead. I went there looking for a replacement and explained what happened and the sales person said "well pumps have to eat too".... ever since only if everyone else dont have it and I really need it I will go there...

I will not shop there due to there very poor customer attitude. They stink when it comes to dealing with customers.

I go there alot because its the closest to my home. In my opinion there customer service is lacking, its kinda like a meat market get the fish and corals in and sell them to anyone anytime as fast as they can. I see so many corals just melt and die in there tanks. I got to say the selection is not that great nothing really out of the ordinary that you would say wow. If you get there right when they get a shipment of coral there is a lot of good stuff to choose from. If it dosnt get bought up it withers and dies. I will say the LPS coral they get are nice. I dont think they can relate to you if you doing some thing different like nano tanks, refugiums and what not. Kinda an old school metality. Am I wrong??
