I know with a skimmer you want maximum bubble contact, but that damn CPR's flow is just WAY to slow. Need to get those coral out of that 10 and into my 55.

ive been curious about this. Ive read that to much skimming can be bad, bubbles cause the crap to be lifted out of the tank, bubbles are good, to many bubbles can be bad....theres way to many anwsers.

I am going to put a maxi-jet on my bak-pak and maybe put a small air-stone in there as well. Mine seems to be doing well. Ive heard that it takes ALOT of adjust them to get it set right.

just remember, with the maxi-jet your going to need a venturi air intake.. the maxi's dont have the same setup as the rio's do. I have a couple venturies at home if/when you get one.

Hey FD, If you ever want to sell the CPR, let me know and I will pick it up. First mod is a black paint job to limit the algae growth on the inside

What kind of skimmer would you put on a 38 gal??

I'm still new to this reef thing, and I'm probably going to get a rebutal, but i have to say the sea clone with the mods is a good way to go. I can't speak for the production of skim of the other skimmers that ppl are using, because I've never used them. But i'm really digging this modded seaclone now.

FD, Let me know how much you want for it... I will take it.

Sea clone is good for what it is but There are better ones out there that are about the same price and you don't have to mod. I enjoy modding things so it works out for me. For the ones who don't know much about modding skimmers it is better to get one that performs out of the box. Coralife super skimmers also get good reviews so you might want to look in that direction.

Thanks for all the advice. Sorry it has taken me a couple of days to check out the responses. We are not running a sump and D is not big into modifing things if we dont have to.

Do you all run an air stone in your tanks to oxygenate the water?

Airstones in the tank create lots of salt creep that can damage equipment. The skimmer will provide enough oxygen for the tank

I would go for a hang on skimmer if you are not into modding things... but many of us can help you if you need it.
