Having a basement sump, I thought I was immune from high temperature problems. But this summer I've been hitting 84 on a regular basis, and 87 on occasion. Since last summer I changed systems (120 to a 150) but the only real difference temp wise is the circulation. I exchanged 1 big Sequence 2100 (on return) and a half dozen submersed flow devices for 2 hammerheads, one on return and one on closed loop. Wouldn't you think that would have been cooler? Nope.
This week I replumbed the downstairs part of the closed loop and put the old sequence back in that task. So far my temps have been only getting up to 82 during the day, so that might have fixed the problem. I just hope the corals can recover.
Unfortunately, my corals have taken a beating. Most of my big encrusting montis colonies (and they had gotten really big) don't look like they are going to survive, and the big ORA tort (8 inch wide colony) isn't looking too good either. Pink stylos kaput.
Softies, millies, and stags all fine.
