The little niece

My niece is a year and 5 months now! She's quite mischievous! I thought I'd share a few photos from the new k5 i've been renting. It's been a phenomenal camera so far and I've already got the feeling that it will be painful to return it at the end of the week! the DR is awesome...definitely much better than my k20d. I accidentally left these at ISO 800 from doing some indoor tests but they look really clean! I took these with the DA 35 limited macro but LR keeps saying that they are 40mm.....hmmm? haha

Those are very nice, amazingly sharp.

I'm not sure if it's the Pentax brand or something you're doing, but your colors always seem exceptional and the sharpness on most of your shots is just great.

Mind sharing what settings you took most of these at? Shutter speed, ISO you said was 800 and what was the aperture?

Thanks Recty!

I think its a pentax thing as i've been asked that a lot. I dont do much with colors in post (though my K20d did have a tendency to oversaturate greens). The K5 seems to be pretty spot on.

I was using the DA35mm F2.8 macro. It is one of my favorite lenses and...and perhaps my sharpest. The wide angle macro adds a different creativity than the 100mm macros that I really like. It's an extremely versatile lens at its focal length....and as such I've made it one of my portait lenses too!

These photos were taken at ISO 800, F 3.2-3.5 and shutter 1/1600s-1/1000s

I think part of what looks different in your shots than in my shots is that you're using a wide angle lens at f/3 or so, so the entire subject is in focus whereas most of my shots are taken with a 50mm or higher and at f/1.8 or lower.

I like the crisp look of your photos for sure.
