I am very close to ordering this light
Total output 380W.

Approx Fixture Size: 24"L x 15"W x 3"H
System Support: 1x250W HQI, 2x65W CF, and 2xBluemoon LED

Odyssea Metal Halide System (Electronic Version) features:

non-corrosive powder coated housing
extra large built-in cooling fans
1x external electronic HQI ballasts
2x internal electronic CF ballast
individual power cords
tempered glass splash guard
mounting brackets

I will be putting it on a 30 long. Is this the best choice for the money? Can someone give me a better option? I really want to be sure before I order. What bulb do I want? Thanks

How long is a 30L? My 29g is 30" across I would have to guess that a 30L is going to be longer then that, which means:

A. Mounting legs won't work
B. Only lighting center of tank

Odysea does not have the best reputation for equipment, I have never used any of it so I will not comment on quality.

You may want to consider a longer light - again this is dependent on the length of the tank I am answering based on an assumption.

Not familiar with a 30 long but I would guess it should be 36". I would recommend matching your fixture length to your tank unless you are planning on hanging it from the ceiling, then you could get away with raising it up a bit and having a shorter fixture.

I haven't bought from them in a long time. Their customer service and quality control leave something to be desired. That having been said. I have heard good things about the new halide system. I would recommend getting bulbs from a different source and getting a fixture that matches your tank length. Also the pc lights that they are using for actinics pretty expensive to replace and they need to be replaced every 6 months.

O.K. , it seems this light may not be perfect. Let's go about this differently. If you had a 30L tank (36") and needed a light that would get the job done and not break the bank what light would you put on it? Lighting is very important and will be much of my budget so I really am interested in your ideas. If you would list some links.
