The third bar

I've got a pair of C-Quest Onyx clowns one being a misbar and the other regular. My question is that they haven't gained their third bar yet will it ever come in? All thats there is a small sliver of white. One is 1.25'', the other 2" in length. They are currently hosted by a RBTA if that means anything. On top of that, the onxy color has not showed obviously with the wrong nem. In around a week I will have my new mag from a friend, will it help?

I have two c-quest onyx directly from C-quest brood stock. One of mine got it within 6 months and the other one from the same parents is almost getting its third strip slowly at 9 months old. The one that took longer was the largest of the batch of eggs it came from. I have read it can take up to 1 1/2 years to get the third stripe and maybe longer. I would say 30% chance yours could grow in. The one that took longer had two dots growing towards each other and now almost touch. I will try to get a photo of them. I know where you could get one though if your looking for one with three bars around the same size.

The two inch fish you have will most likely not get its third bar at this point like ezhoops said.

I dont think the anemone will do anything for you when it comes to the third bar growing.

Percula clowns get their 3rd stripe at a pretty young age. Within a year I would say.
An onyx clowns can take a long time depending on the environment to ge their full onyx color. Even then, the black can fade due to hosting anemone an other factors in the tank.

As far as the nem goes I dont think thats the reason. I have a realllyy black onyx percula that hosts a GBTA. JMO
