They told me it was an Umbrella Leather....

So I bought what I was told was an Umbrella Leather... :\ However, every time I search they look nothing like this. (see image)

It shed for the first couple days and now hasn't done much. The color of it is pinkish.

Flow is medium.

Placement: Bottom of standard 55 gallon.

Lighting is a RB Photon-W 48 (which I am still ramping up the lighting schedule - currently at 38% blue and 32% white at highest point in day.)

Water is perfect, last I checked. All my other inhabitants are doing great.

Questions:
Is it an umbrella leather?

Should I move it?

Last, and I might sound crazy... do these things move? I went out of town for a couple days and came back and it was flipped over. Its also attached to a small rock.

Thanks in advance!

Leather corals in general (and looking at the shape of this one I think it is a toadstool (umbrella) coral so it applies double) can take a good bit of turbulent flow, it helps them keep their skin free from from algae and shed old outer layers. The shedding process especially happens after moving to a new tank.

Try moving it to where it get a little more flow and then do not touch it for 2 weeks and see if the polyps start coming out. Make sure it can not get knocked over again as well, they get really annoyed after something like that

Ok. I will move it to a more increased flow area. What about lighting, keep it at the bottom? Its been about two weeks in the current spot and I haven't seen any polyps yet... just tons of little tiny brownish spots, which I assume are the "tips" of the tips.

You can move it off of the sand, I would not put it in the top half of the tank until it has acclimated with polyps out though. Yes, the dots are where the polyps will emerge.

It is best to not touch the flesh of the leather with bare skin when you move it, it makes mine sulk, they do not seem to be bothered when I am wearing gloves though.

EDIT: For further reading on them look here, an old but very good write-up:

Great article. Helped shed some light.

So I moved the bunch into a higher flow, mid light...

This thing isn't looking too hot. I will send another picture tomorrow. :?
