Think my BTA is starving help!

Hi all

Its been a bit hit and miss with my BTA.

When I bought it from the LFS had really short tentacles. I've been feeding it lance fish but I think now its on its decline.

This morning it had a lot of stringy white stuff coming out from it. Also it's mouth was wide open.

So I removed it from the rock carefully and checked its foot and skin.

Foot is red as normal with no damage or signs of dissolving.

Likewise its still has all its zooanthalae intact as it is still tan.

Its shrivelled up however and it as small writhing green tentacles.

Currently I have put it in a jug that is submerged in my tank, I will see the status of it when I am back from work.

I looked all over the net and it does not look like its dying but more starving as all the pictures I saw of them dying shows tissue erosion which does not have

All my water parameters are normal 0, 0, <10ppm on A, Nitrite and Nitrate

What can you suggest that may help me?

Haul, can you post a picture of it for us?
If you are seeing the insides it is dying.
But without a picture we can't help to much.

How long have you had it? What size tank? Filtration? Other tank mates? Anything that is majorly stressing it out can cause those symptops. If you just bought it.... it may have been too late already, as many will die just from the collection and shipment (which you can do nothing about). Write some more details.

I did just buy it. It is just one week old! Well one week one day. Alot of people did say it looks like it is starving from the look of its short tentacles when I did put up a similar post last week saying it wasnt grabbing food.

Tank is a 50 US G, 2 X tomato clowns, Devil Lionfish, Foxface Rabbitfish, Six Line Wrasse, 3 Cleaner shrimp, sand sifting starfish, 3 deresa clams.

50Lbs of LR with cannister filter containing bioballs, carbon, phosphate remover, purigen.

I cannot think of anything that can be stressing it out.

Currently it is in a jug, in my tank and it has attached itself to it. It looks like its getting rid of its tissue as orangy blobs seem to be coming out.

Finding nemo: I already checked your website, super informative but as you can see from my picture it doesnt look like any of your dying nem pics.

Only things I could think it would be then are:
-it was already in decline when you bought it (which I think is common)
-or somethign about the new environment is bothering it.... they do need really good water quality. I would consider adding a skimmer (if you don't have one). What is your ammonia level again? Check that the level is actually safe, I think as close to 0 the better.
