Any one have experience with using Coral inserts. It seems pretty pricey buyt there are some nice inserts out there, Livingcolor seems to have a nice selection but im worried about algae growth?
Cleaning them would be a pain. I'd stick to live corals. Looks more natural and the real rock formations which allow hiding places for the fish can't be replicated with fake stuff. If you're going fish only I'd maybe consider them..
If i were you i will stay with the live coral. It is more fun and exciting. You will also spend much of your time scrubbing algae of the insert. If the coral is too difficult try keeping low maintenance corals. Hope this helps.
I am upgrading from a 120 4ft to a 220 6ft So i was kicking it around because i will have to buy new lighting.
I think im going to stick with the good stuff! Id rather spend my time fragging corals than scrubbing plastic.
I may try to get a led fixture for the 2' space i need to light then slowly phase out the old 4' MH light and replace it with leds.
