Thinking about exiting hobby

I can finally identify with everyone who has had a major tank wipe out. I recently purchased the macro algae gracilaria from someone not local off of the for sale section. I added it to 2 different tanks last night. This morning i found 1 tank with a dead fish. I didnt think much of it since the fish was newly acquired. Came home from work to find my main display tank dying. I've lost 4 fish so far and many coral with more expected to come. Something with that algae nuked my tank. To say im sick to my stomach is an understatement. I'm finding it hard to want to continue with the hobby with all this loss and may exit here. Sorry for the rant but i needed to collect my thoughts and come to a decision.

update:
dead:
Achilles tang
whitetail bristle tooth tang
mandarin
royal gramma
black clownfish
copperband butterfly

many corals...

I've been there, took a year off. All of my fish in my 300 FOWLR got something and all died. I had most of them for 10 years and grew them from a few inches to a foot or more. It was awful, and I shut it all down. I figured that I needed a break and I could always get it going again. A year or so later, I'm back up and running and it is now an SPS tank. Sorry for what happened/is happening.

This is miserable. just sitting here watching my tank pretty much die before my eyes all because something this profanity removed sold me that poisoned my tank.

Sad to see this. I need pods and have turned down countless offers from people who wanted to give me clippings full of life. If I can't dip it, I don't want it. Dunno if it was the macro or not, but good luck getting through this.

Wow i guess with a few more infractions and my account will be disabled. Oh well, dont have a tank to post about anymore anyway. 2nd breeding clownfish about to die. That leaves me with 2 remaining fish. I breed and raise clowns fish. I actually had to rehome all of my dying display tank fish to a 55g growout tank i use for raising clowns as i had no other options.. This tank was definately not ready for that and now im reaping the bonus of have my baby clownish starting to die as well. A BIG THANK YOU to CHSUB for selling me some wonderful macro. Your $20 garbage could not have possibly cost me more.

I was told it came right from his sump and he never had a problem before and has sold it for years. Guess im just lucky, but he feels terrible so that makes it all better for me....

well it looks like the major die off is finally over. I'm left with 2 fish, my nems, 1 lps, and some closed up zoas which may or may not live. Thank you CHSUB, couldnt have killed off my entire tank without your help.
