thinking about getting back into this messed up hobby

I had a beautiful 150 gallon reef tank then after 2 leaks, flatwoms, algae bloom, various floods on the living room floor,(thanks CPR), fish in overflow box, flooded basement from forgetting to turn off the RO unit, carpet surfing, pyrmaid snails, mushrooms taking over. I had enough and took it down. That was a couple of years ago and now I am back in the forums. If you ask a question in this hobby to 10 people you will get 10 different answers and all of them will be right. Well I am pretty sure I am going to submit my wallet at the front desk at PA, and start a new tank. I keep thinking what would I do different if I had to do it all over again. People, am I crazy? someone talk me out of it before it is too late. There is something so facinating to me about re-creating a living ocean environment in my living room. Let me know your thoughts, Thanks Mike

Wow jgrantham. I didn't expect to get a response from anyone in Danville, I would be happy to watch your tank if you need it. Maybe sometime I could come over and check out your tank.

I saved everything from before except for the tank. Definitely internal overflows this time and I am going to put the sump in the basement. Thanks , Mike

Drilled tank this time, don't drink beer and make salt water and look for used items will save you a bunch.
Don't want to talk you out of this hobby, I'll give you encouragement to get back in it.

Hi Mike,
My tank's still pretty new (5 months), but it's starting to get to what I want. Sure you can come by if that'll help nudge you back into the hobby. :-)
Maybe by then, some of my corals will be mature enough that I can give you some frags.

OK, That would be fun, I really like looking at other peoples tanks. I am going to go slow so I am way off from adding corals. Once I decide on a tank it will start to move forward. I am free in the evenings and weekends. I live right in town on Jefferson street. Looking forward to seeing your tank. It probably will nudge me back into it. My wife and kids are really behind this too believe it or not. I remember people coming over and saying I really like your fish tank, is it hard? I would just look at them and smile. take care, Mike

Mike,

I think I purchased some of your livestock when you took your tank down. You had the switch on the wall that hooked to a pump in your basement for top off water, right? If you do get set up, drop me a note and I can give you some frags out of my tank.

Andrew

WOW, Yea that was me. I will certainly take you up on that when it is time. Frags frags frags lol. I haven't set up the tank yet. Thanks so much for the offer Andrew, Patience is the hardest part of this hobby but the most important. Have a good one, Mike:)
