This morning before I went to work I looked in on baby clownfish that was born/hatched on 7/27 and they are laying on there sides and kind of jumping around, I did a water change from my reef tank to them and prayed.

I came home from work and the same thing; here is a small video of them.

I also have a batch of others the were born 8/7 that look great; here is a video of them also.

The water is the same for both tanks, the only thing different is the sponge filter in the older ones tank, but that has been in that tank for over a week.

What's the ammonia reading?

Is the lift tube under water at the top?

That sponge is really clean. My guess is its not cycled yet and your ammonia is through the roof. I would get changing more water and or use some Amquel.

I took the filter out and did another 50% water change from my reef tank to them.

Lift tube was about .5” under water and it did soak in the reef tank for only 1 day so you might be right, it’s gone now.

Test is about 0.2 with a IO test kit after the water change.

Should I do a small 10% water change with fresh salt water?

Thanks
Terry

The water change is good. I wouldn't have taken the filter out though. Leave it in and let it establish.

It sounds like you had it setup right. Soaking in the reef tank for 1 day is almost useless. I left one in my sump for 3 weeks and it still cycled. It really needs to run so the water is going through it. Now I put them in the sump and hook the air pump to them so they run.

You just did a 50% change with water from the reef tank right? No I wouldn't do another change now. There is something going on... Did the water change make a difference? Are they ok now? I would like to see a video of the tank with the filter running. Move around enough we can get an overall view of whats going on in the tank.. There must be something we are missing. If the badge says its safe I would tend to believe it. If you have some ammonia or a cleaner with ammonia in it open the cap and hold the badge over it for a second. If it reacts its working.

i own a clownfish hatchery don't let them litlle buggers get to you, they act strange sometimes.

After more than 15 years breeding marine fish i tell you one thing ammonia dont kill them.

The one on the right looks fine, the one on the left looks kind of sick might be hes not eating well, do you still offer brine?

Use small bubbles with the filter big noisy bubbles kind of scare them a bit.

You posted before i could send, also offer some live brine to them if the one laying on the side don't get up, then theres really something wrong with him.

1 is now in the morning out swimming freely 1 is looking more active than last night and the 3rd is a bit sluggish but moving that 1 is also not as bright orange as the other 2.
I did feed them but it looks like only the 2 are eating the bbs.

I needed the tank so I took the 3 out and put them in with the other 50 or so and the 1 still looks sick.

On the bright side, another batch of eggs hatched out in that tank last night and it was a full hatch every one of them hatched on the first night.

There is so many of them, it looks so cool.
