4 months ago I had 2 softcoral dominated reefs. Since then, I was away on work and my dad was taking care of the tanks. This is what I got back to after 5 months of literally nothing but water top offs and the occasional flake food. Note that half of the bulbs burnt out, the skimmer was never cleaned, glass was never cleaned, nothing like that. I thought it would be cool to do a diary of the recovery process. So I'll start it with this.

I find it bizzare that all the sand is somehow missing from my fluidized bed filter I setup shortly before leaving. It was 50% sand 50% crushed coral, seems to be entirely crushed coral now.
