Thoughts on coral in Indonesia

When I went to Indonesia I was amazed. Coral was growing everywhere and it was bright colors too. I have dived in the Caribbean and Hawaii before so Indonesia was so different. I have read a lot about coral ever since and I think that what separates Indonesia from the other places is the soft coral that grows like a jungle under the water. What are your impressions of what makes Indonesia so beautiful for diving?

Well, first off you are close to the center of maximum biodiversity so the number of species will greatly exceed that which you would find in the Caribbean or even Hawaii.

Sounds like a great experience. So what was the near by on shore environment like?

Was it pristine forest for example, or was the shore full of buildings, housing or resorts for example? Was it like that everywhere you saw, or were area adjacent to human activity devastated like you might find in Cozumel Mexico for example?
