Thoughts on RG's

I am interested in Royal Gramma's and was wonder about how many in a 75 gallon tank. I would like to get a paring if at all possible.

They are generally territorial, if you are lucky enough to get them to pair, 2 per tank, if not, 1.

I have 4 in my tank currently. I have kept as many as 6 in the tank at once, and had them pair up and spawn.

But even the pair that spawned didn't hang together all the time.

I'd try 3 and see what happens. I'd go for all the same size. But I'm just going on instinct. I just have the one. I've read they can be kept in groups.

If going for more than a pair get a group of them all at once, the smallest size possible. If they are immature they can grow up and figure out their social behavior together.

If you are going for having only a pair, then get as big of a size difference as you can find. That way there will clearly be a dominant and subordinant fish, and this will likely prevent fighting between the 2.
