Hi. I'm an SPS keeper and I have a Paly problem.

These things are taking over. I've tried tearing them out with forceps. I've tried kalking them. I've tried tearing them out with forceps, and then Kalking them. I've asked local reefers for Sundial snails, Zoa Nudis, Zoa pox, or zoa spiders. No one's been able to help me. I want them dead! I'd like them to suffer. They've caused the death of I can't remember how many SPS colonies, and almost killed a prized chalice. Please advise.

I'm really trying to avoid tearing the tank apart. If this gets any worse, I think I'm going to tear the tank down, cook the rock, and start over.

I had some get out of control and couldn't seem to stop them until I used aquamend on them. I think it's JBJ waterweld now. Get it at lowes. It's a putty for putting coral in place but it can also be used to cover them. It's easily removed after a couple of weeks when the coral you want dead has been starved of light and nutrients.

I'm having the same kind of problem in my tank. My culprit is blue cloves though. They spread everywhere. I think every rock in my tank might have some on them. They'll even choke out zoas and palys. I want them gone. They have taken over my tank and killed numerous corals. I'm thinking of just fragging the good corals off the rocks that I can and putting the rocks out in the snow for a day or two. Than basically start all over, cycling them in buckets to get the phosphates down until it is ready to go back in the tank. :(

I would pull that rock out and swap in some other rock. There are certain palys that will grow no matter what. The only other thing I would try is the mojano zapper that Paul B invented. I have not heard of people using them on palys, but it is worth a try.

Even if that is a base rock, you need to take it out and replace it with some other rock. At this rate, they're gonna take over your whole tank. Would you rather take a few hours to rearrange the rocks now, or would you rather be stuck with a giant tank with overtaken SPS and loads of ugly palys?

Gonna have to remove as much rock as they are attached to and scrape them off everything else. If you want to reuse the rock just let it sit outside without water for about 3-4 weeks.
