Thumbs down for Marine Center.

I received an e-mail notification from The Marine Center on Monday morning letting me know that a fish that I was looking for was in stock. As soon as I saw it, I went to the website to place my order.

Well, Tuesday morning I got to work and there was no shipping confirmation. Odd. I waited until late in the afternoon. No shipment. Odd. I went back to their website for contact information. The only contact info that they give you is an e-mail address (as most of the rest of the world, no personal service). So, I sent them an e-mail inquiring about my order. Got to work this morning, checked my e-mail and found that my order had been canceled due to lack of stock. Oh well.

I do not think that I will be doing business with them again as it seems that they do not want to deal with their customers.

Or maybe it's just me...

This was the first time that I tried them because they told me that they had stock on a particular fish that I am looking for.

Never again.
 
I had great luck with them. They did sub a fish on my order but I approved it beforehand.

I don't think it's a matter of poor customer service, I think they are just a small company and understaffed.

Being a small business owner myself, a small company will definately not get any bigger if they do not have a phone and some one to answer it.

I am done ranting now. Good luck to anyone who decides to place an order with them.
 
My understanding of the way Marine Center works, especially for rare fish, is a crap shoot. You put your name on the email list, when something comes in, the first person to order it wins. The only way to know if you got it is if your order did not get canceled.

I'm not saying it's a good way, but for unique items, they are a good source. From a quality standpoint, I've read a ton of good feedback on them in the Vendor Experiences forum about them.
 
Marine Depot live emailed me back in under an hour yesterday, they are getting my next online order for livestock, they also have the best selection IMO
 
I agree with Mike. They get some spectacular fish in...you just have to be fast. I have never personally ordered from them, but few friends have and they were all fat and healthy.

They sent me their phone number in an e-mail, it's not an 800 number. If anyone ever wants it let me know and I'll PM it to you.
