Yes, time is ticking away, I couldn't get the glass fixed today. So tomorrow I will need to run to the glass shop and get it fixed or get new. This is putting me way behind schedule. I will only have a day left for my long weekend. Not much time to work on this once we go back to work. (12 and 16 hour days) so question.
Can I used super glue to glue the glass baffles in the sump. I know people use it to glue frags and such. so why can't we use it for the baffles? If I can get the baffles in by tomorrow afternoon. Then we can lower it in the stand and get the 180 up there. Then we still need to get the plumbing hooked up. Hopefully no leaks. I'm still looking at about Tuesday to start filling the tank. And hopefully it is sitting level and I won't need to make any adjustments. It will be very tight. Any safe suggestions to help this move along would be greatly apreciated.

Sorry, but I say anything like this done in a rush is not a good thing. Take your time, work on it when you can. I had many, many nights where I had maybe an hour, perhaps a half hour, some nights all I got done was gluing two pieces of PVC together and that was it. I got all my stuff together and tested my bulkheads - sure enough, one of them leaked and no matter what I did I couldn't stop it. Stopped me in my tracks until I could replace the bulkhead. It will cost you much more time and money down the road if you slap things together haphazardly now and they fall apart on you later. Just my opinion of course...

Well I have been working on it for a few weeks now. The morning after Island Hopper came and picked up the rock the landlord said I could set up the tank, That afternoon went the GA and Chad and I went over everything I would need to do. and what to get. got the different plumbing that I needed. Put together what I could. This was the weekend that I was going to be able to get it up. I had six days off. Plenty of time to put it together. Except the glass shop didn't have the glass ready on Thursday like they said, nor did they have it Friday when I went to pick it up. So I guess they just hurried it throught and did a crapy job so I could get it Saturday. And they didn't cut them square. And that is what through everything off.
I got the lights up. I got all the plumbing to the mag 24 that I could do before had. Made the stand pipes. So basically the plumbing will consist of just attaching the pieces I already have done. and tighting a few claps.
The two reason for needing to get this done soon is I wanted it up and running before the landlord changed his mind AGAIN, and two. In order to set this up (remember I live in and apartment) I had to move the dinning room table in to the living room. tank stand is in the dinning room, tank is on the dinning room floor. Rock (from the 75 that is going to be the sump) is in bucket with power head. the sand is in totes on the kitchen floor. the 75 is in the middle of the livingroom floor. I can't walk around my place. We have to crawl over and scoot around everything. Which would be ok for a weekend but not long term. Something will get broken or someone will get hurt. that is the hurry. It was planned out. Just fate is messing with my plan.

if you want to have to take it apart again i wouldnt do it


use aquarium silicone and give it a few days to dry




cant you put the tank together than glue the baffles in while it is under the stand


add water so that the sand and the rock are fine in the tank

I was going to wait a couple days before I started running water throught the sump. Maybe next weekend. I just mainly wanted to get everything hooked up. and water in the tank. I figure the XP3 and a couple of power head will take care of the rock and sand till the weekend. Any way the skimmer still didn't make it in yet. Chad said that it should be in this week.
Putting it together under the stand. It is tight a 75 gal tank under a 180. And well I'm not exactly a small framed girl.

Wow- hopefully everyhing goes well. Sounds like it will be a neat setup. Just out of curiosity, are you on the ground floor of the apartment with that big of a setup?
I know a few people wih cracked floor joists or slanted floors with setups that big and smaller who didnt brace the floor under the tank.
Either way I wouldnt stop putting it up- especially if you get the landlord to sign something.

Upstairs, The old land lord had an engineer come out and check out the tank, and the building. Since my apt in over the old laundry room and the water closet for this building It would be ok. He said that I have four walls running right under the area where the tank will be. He was so excited about the tank, that when I was going to sell it (because the way the apt was wired) Everything would have been on one circuit he had his boys come out and rewire the apt. and put three new circuits up with new outlets. Then he sold the building. and the new landlord said no. then he talked to some people and they told him it would be fine. I don't know who he talked to. If it was the old owner or the engineer. but he called me up on the 20th and told me to go for it. He will let me know if something changes. Getting tired of yes, no, yes, no. So this time when he said yes. It is going up. Hopefully by the time he says no again, I can say, " TO LATE"

LOL- thats great. Definately a pain to be told yes or no that many times. Thats really cool that the old landlord was that into the tank to rewire the apt. for you. Put up some pics after it has water in it.

Will try, But truth be told, I have about as much luck doing anything on this computer as I do putting up tanks.

For whatever my two cents is worth, I agree with Shooter7, take your time. Anything done in a rush, I have found, normally needs to be redone later and it's twice as difficult then. I took me better than six months to get JUST my hood built but, it's been up for a year and seems to working out like I'd planned. Take your time and do it right, now. You'll be glad you did later on!
