Tiger Turbo snails?

Freed

It's what it's
Anyone know if these are the same as regular large turbo snails? The ones I saw at the LFS today look like overgrown turbo snails but have a couple/few black stripes on their shells like a tiger's stripes and are called Tiger Turbo snails. Anyone have a link to a thread about them or have any? Do they just eat algae? Good destroyers of hair algae? Thanks.

Most of the Mexican turbos I've encountered have stripes on their back. I am not sure if the LFS is just trying to add the word tiger to add sales value to it. They will eat lots of algae, but may or may not eat hair algae depends on the type. The most annoying thing is they are so huge they knock off frags and stuff all the time. You can try a small purple urchin for hair algae, but becareful to take it out as soon as your hair algae is taken care of as it will also graze coraline algae and some polyps when it runs out of options.

No they are not mexican turbo's. I have a tiger snail and he's about the size of a racket ball mabe a little bit smaller. They grow fast, only come out at night and chow on coraline algae
