Tiny clam in Nano Question

I have a nano - 2.5 gallons. It is about 8-10" deep (would have to measure).

It has a 10W mini compact flourescant 6500K bulb.

I am setting this tank up as a mini refugium type tank with lots of macro, pods, etc. There is a nice button poylp rock in there and a few snails.

Question 1: Would any of the lower light clams work if they were really small?

Question 2: I realize if they were really tiny they would need phyto. Because the tank is so small I think I could feed them like that.

Question 3: If I did feed them phyto like that would the excess nutrients get eaten by other things in the tank or absorbed by the plants? I guess I am wondering if the clam doesn't eat all of it what do I need to do to keep water parameters good.

Just for a side note: I do have a large reef tank that I can use for daily water changes. If the clam got too large for the nano I could move it to the main tank which has 400W MH and 150W VHO.

Experiences of "a couple of months" are completely useless in this hobby. You haven't been succesful with a photosynthetic specimen until you've had it at least a year, and it's show regular growth. A photosynthetic animal can spend a year dying of attrition and look "great". Just a heads up :)

Gosh, I don't remember saying it was a success, making your post kind of 'useless':rolleye1:

Successful rearing of photosynthetic specimens would be more in the line of 3-5 years at least.
