Tiny creatures

As some of you know...I'm a beginner at the nano reef. I was just looking at the live rock in the tank, and I noticed many TINY creatures crawling all over the rocks. They are so small, that to see them, you literally need to stick your face right up to the glass. They are fun to watch...as I have no fish in there yet. What role do they play in the ecosystem of my tank?

They are most likely copepods and amphipods. They are detritus and algea eaters. They are a good sign that your tank is maturing.
