I have some colonies that are growing really quickly at the branches, but the base is slowly receding away... do you guys think this is due to insufficient flow? or maybe light? what can i do to stop this? please help!

Jorbucks,

first you need to find out what's causing it before you can fix it,

cause of bleaching at the base

1. not enough flow
2. acro flat worms (usually circular bleaching)
3. light not reaching the based (usually less color, not bleaching, ect)

parameters fine?

good luck,

sam

I just treated twice with acro flatworms so i don't think its that. nitrates are 5ppm, po4 is 0 (with salifert), alk=9, calcium=380.

lol... i meant i treated for acro flatworms twice with levamisole.

i should mention that the recession only happens on the recent aquacultured colonies that I added... basically any place where there is no light on the colonies, the tissue just dies. the rest of the colony looks to be fine (good polyp extention/growth).
