So I started my cycle about a week ago now. With Live rock and some live sand. No spikes of any kind so far but I am getting algae so I wanted to throw in some snails. Is it to early and what are the best kind to get.?

Thanks

was your rock cured? you may not see a spike. if your rock was cured and had a short shipping time to your house, it should be ok to add a clean up crew now. double check your ammonia and nitrate though before you do anything.

It was uncured rock shipped overnight.. I bought the worlds worst test kit Pharmaceuticals something or other its relly hard to read what anything is but it looks like no amonea spike I thought last night I had high nitrites but again the test tube was purple and the test strip was looking for blues so I am not sure have to order a new kit.

Anyways I would guess the tank will spike but has not yet and I would love to get some snails in there . Thoughts

you can add some turbo snails and blue legs crabs. they are good for removing algae. your bio filtration will do the job.

Well I took the bio bale out of the Bak Pak skimmer so it is better for reef tank. So all my filtration is from the rock. The skimmer is just skimming.

I have green algae forming including feather caulerpa, I also have a few new pathces of brown algea forming and some of my sand is darkening a little. So I think the snails will be good
