To frag or not to frag???

I have a colony of A. Gemmifera that bleached and most of all the tops of the branches are skeleton covered with algea. The low part of the branches are alive and have polyp extention, so I figure the colony has hope. ..

Will it do better if I break off the part of the branches that is dead, and then break the center peice into a few frags?

Thanks for your help.

Definitley frag it! Once algae dwells in their skeleton, it is nearly impossible for the piece to recover over that area.

Once i cut the tips off this colony will look prety messed up! Should I cut the base up into a few peices as well??

Thanks for responding.

if you frag the base you will be exposing more surface area of the coral to light thus helping increase the growth rate.but i guess that a coral as stocky as A. Gemmifera might not nessesarily benifit from that line fo thought. if the base looks good then you might as well leave it intact unless you want to give some to me. :D JK.
