I turned off my tunze 6105's last night for about 2-3 hours which are in my 72 bowfront. I'm using the 12v jumper and running them at 80,90,&and 100% depending on the time of day. Also they alternate on and off for about 20 sec on and 10 off.
So I don't really have much polyp extension with lights on and about an hour after the lights go out the polyps start opening up.
Last night I shined a light in the tank like I normally do, but this time I noticed amazing polyp extension compared to what I normally see. The tentacles were extremely long. I've also been struggling with very slow growth on acros.
I use an apex, so I changed my profiles to run at 60,75, and 90%, and I also decreased the oscillations to around 20sec on 20 sec off. I further added 2 profiles called Rest, where the powerheads are off for about 1 to 1:30 hours twice a day.
I would like to see polyp extension during the day and was wondering if I was running to much flow, which was inhibiting PE and growth?
Also if I do see A differnce in PE is it a good idea to feed at that time?
