toad s leather with hole in it

I've had this toad s leather for 8 years. I noticed a hole right in the center about the size of a quarter. The polyps are still extending fine and the leather itself is around 8 inches in diameter.

Is the hole normal ? or is it dying?

i had a much smaller toadstool that my clowns claimed. they actually wore a hole in the middle of it with all of their wiggling. before i could get it moved it looked like a pretzel..
a while after i moved it to another tank, the loose edges dropped off and were starter babies.... just my experience....
