toadstool leather

hi all ,

i have had a toadstool leather in my tank for approx 3 weeks and have seen no change / growth apart from what i think is shedding ? it is still relatively flat to the rock and hasnt sprouted yet ?

Tank parameters and a photo always help with these sort of things.

Almost all softies will go into a funk if not in the right place or getting the right flow, they also will just go into a shed process too and can take a few days to get out of it but not 3 weeks.

My guess is there is something else wrong, not enough flow perhaps?

thanks for the reply , i will try a bit of a move around and see if that helps , it does seem to have good days where it looks bigger and bad days where it shrinks again !

Yeah something is definitely wrong..I move my toadstool all over the place (trying to find a permanent spot) and it always opens up right away.

ok so ive gone to move my toadstool and it has fixed itself to the live rock , i havent pulled it as im not sure now whether im going to do more harm than good !
someone tell me why i had coral again !!! :facepalm:

Depends on how bad he is attached.... If he has just a little bit attached it will be okay to pull him off, if its his whole base then something else will have to be done.

Worst thing you can do now is get discouraged.

As long as your water parameters are good, he wont die.

thanks all for the replies ive moved my toadstool and he seems to be doing better ive included a picture to see what you think ?

Toadstools are moody guy's.. mine goes through shedding spells..it will ball up for up to 3 weeks then open and close for a few hours.. then one day open and stay open all night only slightly closing for months on end... this one was the size of a quarter when I got it a year ago..it has also grown 3 new babies which I have moved around the tank..
