Toadstool Leather

Lot of variables involved, the market demand for that coral in a particular geographic region is going to be the biggest factor.
That being said, I'd say anywhere from $50 to $100 would be a fair hobbyist to hobbyist price.

when i was looking them up it was 60$ for a small 4 or 5 inch... i ahve a 90 gal tank and my leather is taking it over it smushes up against the glass; i was thinking about trading it in at east coast aquatics for their tank to get store credit.

I believe ECA will only give you 30% of what they would sell it for, so I would recommend trying to sell it to a hobbyist first... you'll get more money. I think ECA just sold a rather large 12+" toadstool for $89 the other day when I was there. So even if they would sell it for $90 - $120 that means you only get $30 - $40.

I haven't seen any that size in a store locally, but I paid $20 for a ~4in piece at TPP. Id agree with porky that 50-100 is probably fair for a hobbyist to hobbyist price, probably leaning towards the higher end or a little more depending on coloring and quality of the piece... at east coast I wouldn't expect to pay any less than $1000 to buy or to get more than $50 on the trade.... they should offer financing there...lol...in all fairness they have gotten better, but still too rich for me...

just afraid of damaging it... i would be mad if it died from fragging it... but i would love to frag it.

Invite Ken over he has fragged his and has a lot of experience with leathers

Actually Al! I haven't propped many toad stools myself. I haven't kept that many of them. but good ole Leroy and Sally Jo at GARF do it all the time and tell us how to do it on their site. just look for the right prop section.

It should be under propagating sarcophytons.

apparently its pretty easy, as long as your tank bio-chemistry is happy, with moderate light, high on actinic, the frags should do fine.

sorry it is a Mushroom Leather here is a pic.
