toadstool not opening

I have had a toadstool for about 4 months. the first month it was doing real well opening up big with a ton of pollups. Then it closed up for a week to shed, I know this is a normal thing they do. It started to close for a few days then open for a day, close for a week open for a day, it has now been closed for over a month.

I dont see any soft spots or discoloration on it, any ideas?

I guess this is a yellow (flesh colored) toadstool, its not the green kind.

Do you see any feather-like tenticles coming off the leather? There are some species of comb jellies that are commensal to leathers, but can irritate them enough that they won't open.

Google "ctenophore" for more info. If that's what you have, you just need to physically remove them and the leather should open up pretty quickly...

Mine has been closed for the last 2 days also... It's my first time owning a Toadstool.

I'll let you know if it opens.

Have you moved em around at all? Got him out of his comfort zone? Move the flow off him at all? Just change lights? Just a few things to check.

Mine hasn't been moved anywhere, pumps and everything are all in the same location.

But it has opened since my first post. It's been opened for the last 2 days now. So it's looking good.

Solid!

Mine is not opening either. I redirected the pump towards it yesterday and immediately noticed that it got bumpier but no polyps have extended yet. Does it matter that another one is 6 inches away? One is the size of a nickel and the other a dime.

If they are that small I wouldn't worry about it.

They key IMO is to keep everything the same. Try not to move the powerheads too much.

As they grow they will go through these phases.

Awesome! Thanks. They used to open but now they seem to want to but not quite open up.

Anything new over the last 2 days?
