Toadstool ?

My toadstool leather is outgrowing my tank (half of the cap/crown is at the waterline level). Was wondering if I can cut off the entire cap/crown to shorten it by a few inches. Will it grow back? Thx

No worries. ;)

Toadstool ?

Can I please ask the same question and here is a picture of mine. What would be the best thing to do with mine.

As the other poster said no worries. What do I do with the cap? I know that sounds stupid but I can't throw it away?

See where the stalk goes from dark to light? Just use some sharp scissors and clip it right there. You can either trade this in at the LFS, give it away to somebody, or just dice it up into much smaller pieces and have a bunch of frags. GL.

I ended up trading mine in at the LFS.

Oh ok thanks. I didn't realise it was that simple. I think I would probably trade it in at the local fish shop. If I did decide to dice it up (cubed?) how big would I do them about 1cm square or more than that. If I did them that small though I'd have loads. Would I just leave them in a tub inside the tank? Questions questions.

If you do decide to cut it up, the bigger the piece the better. Just get some small pieces of live rock about the size of a golf ball and use a rubber band to secure the tissue. Somewhat loosely, but just enough to keep the frag in place. It has to be in constant contact with the rock through the entire duration. Find it a spot with low flow and moderate lighting and give it at least 3 weeks to develop a secure bond. (maybe even longer) GL.

Different, but the same. (link below)

It'll take a while for the base to regrow a head, but it's nice to restart it once in awhile. You can tie the top down to a rock till it attaches, then sell it. I do this about once every 2 years with my neon green polyp toadstools. I have two colonies that I alternate on.
