Todays Swap (General Feedback)

Today was a moderate turnout, we saw a few new faces which seemed to have fun.

As you know we had to change locations at the last minute for this one so we did not have the usual fanfare.
For those who missed it though, you really missed out on the start of something potentially good.

We debuted a silent auction which was a hit, and we will be implementing this at the next meeting as well, expect rules to follow soon.

We also handed out the first 2 CVRC Chain corals.
Congrats to Marty and Jeff on winning. They will update growth and parameter data on the official site soon. Expect the LPS link to be made public soon.

Special thanks go out to
Mary-food & drinks
Brian-Audio Visual (which we did not use this time)
Barry-for use of the shop
Tony & Phil for helping set up
Everyone else who supported the meet.

Next meeting must be advertised and we must work together to insure a big turnout. That is the only way the silent auction will work.

If you have ideas this is the thread to post them in. This will be a general catch all for ideas and feedback from todays swap.

Thanks to all who came out today and joined in the fun.

I know I got some really nice stuff for my tank and I got rid of a lot I did not need. If you were there let us know what you thought, we need feed back.

Amy and Phil got the picks of the day IMO!
Congrats! A 4" ATL Blue Polyp Cap for $100! Great Steal guys!

LOL

I really enjoyed the meeting today. It was a lot like the old meetings when we used to have the auctions. I liked the silent auction we had. In many aspects it was actually a better way to bid on coral. Instead of only being able to bid on one coral we could bid on three at a time so it made the pace much faster than the old meetings.

I wish there would have been more participation in the ATO build I had planned. It looks like we are not going make the $300.00 purchase from them we needed to get the ATO devices for 20% off. I will bump the thread up one more time and if we do not get enough buyers I do not plan to actually demo the build next meet.

On a side note, there were a lot of people that made off with some good deals on frags. Personally, I picked up a Tyree blue polyped cap for a nice price. I also acquired a piece of ORA Aussie Delicate Stag. I hope I have better luck with it this time around.

Yes the meeting was much like some of our first ones, the pace was much faster with the silent bidding as we could go several frags at once, great idea to bring that into play Phil!

I missed it, I wish I could have been there. I don't need any more things for my tank, but I would have liked to have seen everyone. I'm glad it was a good turnout, this is a good group of people.

Yes, yes we did. :D

Ron the favite is amazing... the best $70.00 I think I ever spent...can't believe "I" said that about a frag but it is awesome.:D
I'll have to snap a pic soon.

The silent auction went well too IMO... all in all a great meeting.

I'm glad you like it Amy, like I said it's one of my favorites and only about 2 people have seen it until today.

On a Side Note:
The Chain coral Database is ready and waiting for entries. Visit the official forum for details. I have entered the first lineage data on the PPE and Tri-Color. The Holders will report there data in the next week or so.

i was very disappointed.

i did not enjoy it at all.

mostly because i had to work all day and did not get to go. :( again.

I just want to say that I really enjoyed the auction. I wasn't around for the ones before to compair but I thought it was great. Sold some and won some. I was also lucky enough to have won the first PPE chain frag. I will do my best to help propagate the coral in hopes that we can pass it along to someone else in the near future.

Glad you liked it, but as for comparison, not even close. Imagine that room shoulder to shoulder well over 100 people bidding on individual frags as they were described and shown on the big screen. It took as long as 7 hours to go through the frags and there were well over 3oo frags at most of those things. Prices also went much much higher in those days than what we saw at this event, which was more friendly IMO no screaming, confusion and hard feelings.

Just to be clear here for those who were not there and see this post and get excited. THIS WAS A SILENT AUCTION, there was no auctioneer and not verbal bidding taking place, we are within our rights to have silent auctions. It was also a lot faster IMO

Also glad you received the first chain, I believe you will live up to the true nature of what this project will be about. I set up the database last night with the PPE thread ready for you to add your observations to.

Thanks and just wait, I think we have a good idea and will implement this silent bidding idea on a much larger scale next round.

No no prizes this time Chris, we also took up no donations or raised any funding for the next meet. It was a pretty laid back meeting, a bit unorganized and on the fly but still nice.

Sorry I missed it! Glad to hear everyone had a good time and left with new corals to add to their tanks! I totally missed the timing and was not aware of the meeting plannned!

I have don't frequent RC as much trying to get my 230g back in order! I tore it down to the sandbed and am rebuildiing the rock work back up to give me more area to set corals! Glad everyone had fun. I'll have to catch up with you guys on some of the zoas mentioned. I have never heard of some of them listed! Hope to see everyone at the next one!
