TOM Aquarium Aqua Lifter Pump Help

Hello,

I am using an aqua lifter pump for my hydor ato system. It was working great, but now I am having issues with the alarm on the ato going off. The alarm is caused by the water not being replenished in enough time.

The pump is slow, but it was always a steady flow out of the line. Now it is just a slow drip, which causes the issue. Has anyone had a similar issue? How do I fix it?

how old is the pump? it might need to be rebuilt, it costs a few dollars but replaces the diaphragm portion of the pump.

The aqua lifter needs to suck some air every once in a while, otherwise it gets very slow. Something about how the diaphragms work. I have mine set so that it runs dry when the ato reservoir is low, or you can just lift the end of the line out from underwater on occasion. It's part of maintaining this sort of pump.

I run some vinegar through mine once in a while too. If those dont work you might need to tune up the diaphragms, especially if you're running kalk.
