Had my 90 gallon up and running for three days now... water,sand, 50 lbs of dry base rock, pumps/filter/heater/lights on, and now i am having to scrape a hard white film off the glass every 12 hours or so... i came home from work and had to spend quite a bit of time getting the hard white film off the glass with a mag cleaner, and this morning i had to do the same thing.... last night i noticed that my pH was around7.98, so i dosed again with Seachem marine buffer which brought it back to 8.23... could i have added too much and this is what i see on glass, and if so, what can i do? I have live rock being delivered tommorow... thanks.... Bunker

I wouldn't add anything to your tank, a new tank is very unstable, did you mix the salt water before putting it in the tank, or put the water in the tank than mix it? May be undissolved salt sticking to the glass, could be the ph buffer you added. I wouldn't add anything to it till its cycled and matured.
when ever I have a problem I would do a water change. I my self I use natural sea water to get the tank ready for live rock from the start. You get good levels of calcium ph alkalinity i have been using it for 10 years no problems from my experince others may have there own experince using it. later on down the road I would be using sea salt from a bag . But if you don't have NSW accessible then do a water change with salt from a bag the only thing I could think it is. It's something coming from the gravel you put in other wise something in the water .
