Too much flow?

Just curious, but is there such a thing as too much flow for fish?

I've got 2 Jeabo PP-15s, but only run one at the moment (on random/else flow) in 150 gallon tank. Running both of them seems overpowered.

No coral yet in my tank. But is that too much flow if I run both of them that'll it overwhelm the fish? (2 clowns, 1 royal gamma)

Ever been snorkling/scuba diving?
The ocean has a heck of a lot of pull..

And you are only at like 45x display tank size for flow..
Thats about perfect IMO for a fish only tank..
2 x 3400gph/15 = 45x flow rate..

You are totally fine..

Some argue there is no such thing as too much flow, and I fall into that camp as long as you can keep it randomly swirling around as much as possible.

Too much flow is certainly possible... you can absolutely have so much that you rip the flesh off corals or otherwise damage them with flow.. And you can certainly have too much flow for your choice in sand,etc...

But yes it best to have as much flow as possible so that detritus,etc.. can be kept in suspension to be filtered out or consumed as food.. There certainly is a "too much" point though..

I tend to fall in the "œtoo much flow = water coming out of the tank". When it comes to fish and sps corals anyway. Deeper water fleshy corals will not appreciate it as much and you can literally rip the tissue off the skeletons if the current is too much. For fish and sps I'd have no problem pushing it 100-200x display volume. In a 150 anyway. Wrasses and tangs are incredibly powerful swimmers

Thanks everyone.

I've currently got them on the back wall on each side pointed toward the center front. Thinking a crisscross off the glass would be good. Just didn't want to overdue it.

I have since moved the one on the right a bit to the left so it's not right on top of the rock there. CUC needs to clean that spot.
